L’esperienza MUNER (Model United Nation Experience Run) è un progetto che coinvolge i ragazzi dagli 11 ai 18 anni di tutto il mondo che prendono parte a delle simulazioni di assemblee ONU che durano all’incirca 3 giorni.

GCMUN (Global Citizens Model United Nation) ha ogni anno un altissimo numero di iscritti che partecipano come delegati a delle intere giornate di commissione, nelle quali si impegnano a diventare dei veri e propri delegati.

Il paese che ogni ragazzo rappresenterà non è quello di provenienza, ma quello sorteggiato nel periodo prima dell’inizio delle simulazioni, durante il quale, attraverso lezioni da remoto, si spiegano passo per passo le ROP (Rules Of Procedures).

Il Delegate Training Course è incluso nel progetto: un periodo di esercitazione prima di iniziare davvero l’entusiasmante role-play che si va a creare.

Lo staff di United Network (Organizzazione italiana promotrice del progetto) ambisce a creare un ambiente del tutto analogo a quello che si può ritrovare nei veri dibattiti dell’Assemblea.

Quest’anno il progetto si è tenuto allo Sheraton Hotel, nel cuore di New York City. È proprio all’interno dell’albergo che si sono svolte le commissioni, dove coetanei di culture e tradizioni diverse si sono confrontate esclusivamente in lingua inglese.

Con lavoro individuale o – nel caso di double delegation – di coppia, il progetto riesce a sviluppare competenze importanti, come parlare in pubblico ad esempio, ma anche semplicemente spiegare qualcosa in una lingua diversa da quella madre.

Le idee creative e tanta cooperazione all’interno della commissione sono tutte iniziative ampiamente premiate.

A questo punto il vero lavoro non sta soltanto nel trovare e scrivere la risoluzione del problema migliore, ma prevalentemente nel mettersi in gioco.

MUN- L’importanza della partnership

Il lavoro più grande che riesce a mantenere in piedi una soluzione è la pura cooperazione tra tanti individui, fondata su rapporti che poi diventano umani.

Lavorare per ore a stretto contatto con persone diverse ed appartenenti a culture diverse fa capire cosa sia davvero il lavoro di squadra: non soltanto avere un identico obiettivo ma soprattutto cercare di raggiungerlo in mod da porre a confronto ed esaltare le doti personali di ognuno del team.

Esattamente come all’ONU, non è il lavoro del singolo ad emergere, per quanto venga in parte premiato con le honourable mentions, ma la compattezza di un gruppo che si viene a creare.

Joe è un uomo semplice, nato nel 1968 nel Bronx da una coppia di italiani. La cucina ha sempre fatto parte della sua vita, essendo figlio di un ristoratore e di una cuoca e avendo lavorato per lungo tempo come cameriere,prima di diventare uno dei ristoratori più importanti in America in Italia.

Durante il suo discorso, Joe è riuscito a trasmettere a chi lo ascoltava un profondo insegnamento “Tenere sempre a mente chi si è e da dove si viene”.
