Percy Jackson e gli dei dell’Olimpo arriverà tra poco sugli schermi, con un nuovo
adattamento televisivo seriale. La prima volta che si è parlato di questa serie tv di
Percy Jackson era il lontano 2020, nel mese di maggio di quell’anno, infatti l’autore
dei romanzi Rick Riordan aveva annunciato di essere al lavoro per aiutare Disney a
sviluppare una potenziale serie tv su Percy Jackson. Due anni dopo finalmente arriva
la conferma ufficiale! Rick Riordan firma la sceneggiatura del primo episodio con Jon
Steinberg (Black Sails) che sarà diretto dal regista James Bobin. Non è la prima volta
che la serie letteraria viene trasposta sullo schermo, però prima di questa serie
televisiva lo schermo era quello grande: Percy Jackson e gli dei dell’Olimpo era già
arrivatoal cinema con due film, il primo dei quali diretto da Chris Columbus. Era poi
prevista anche una terza pellicola, tuttavia il progetto non è stato portato avanti.
Dopo che Disney ha acquisito la Fox – che deteneva i diritti cinematografici dei libri
di Riordan – ha deciso di dedicarsi subito a un adattamento seriale, che già nel 2020
era stato annunciato ai fan. Finalmente ci siamo quasi: entro la fine del 2023, la serie
di Percy Jackson e gli dei dell’Olimpo debutterà su Disney+ il 20 dicembre con i primi
due episodi e con nuove puntate ogni settimana. Come si evince dal teaser trailer
diffuso in rete nelle scorse ore, la serie televisiva ripercorrerà tutta la storia di Percy,
partendo dal principio, come abbiamo già visto nel primo film del 2010. L’Attore
tredicenne Walker Scobell è stato scelto per il ruolo del giovane protagonista Percy
Jackson poi abbiamo Aryan Simhadri che interpreterà Grover Underwood, un satiro
mezzo umano e mezzo capra di 12 anni. È un ragazzino molto sensibile che tiene
molto alle persone e spesso mette i bisogni degli altri prima dei suoi a suo rischio e
pericolo ed è il migliore amico di Percy. Poi abbiamo Leah Sava Jeffries che
interpreterà Annabeth, anche lei una semidea come Percy. Virginia Kull porta in
scena Sally Jackson, la madre amorevole, protettiva e altruista di Percy. Sally ha
cresciuto suo figlio sapendo che un giorno avrebbe dovuto consegnarlo al pericoloso
mondo degli dei dell’Olimpo, mentre Timm Sharp veste i panni di Gabe Ugliano, “il
marito egoista, sfacciato e combattivo di Sally, nonché patrigno di Percy. Glynn
Turman è Chirone alias il signor Brunner, travestito da insegnante di latino di Percy,
Chirone è il famoso centauro e addestratore di eroi che fornisce a Percy una guida
morale quando necessario. Jason Mantzoukas veste i panni di Dioniso alias il signor
D., l’irritabile e sarcastico gestore del Campo Mezzosangue, un campo per semidei.
Quanto a Megan Mullally, l’iconica Karen di Will & Grace veste i panni di Alecto alias
la Signora Dodds, la severa e irascibile insegnante di matematica di Percy. Gli episodi
della prima stagione sono otto. Rick Riordan, il celebre creatore di “Percy Jackson”,
ha lavorato a stretto contatto con il team creativo e gli showrunner Jon Steinberg e
Dan Shotz per dare vita ai suoi libri e realizzare una serie che rimanesse fedele alla
sua visione di questi eroici personaggi che milioni di fan della saga conoscono e
amano.
