Chiamata dai più “mamma coraggio”, Maria Luisa Iavarone, professoressa universitaria di pedagogia, scrittrice, fondatrice dell’associazione “adulti responsabili per un territorio unico contro il rischio” (ARTUR) , ma soprattutto madre, racconta di sé e della tragica storia che vede coinvolto suo figlio, Arturo, ai microfoni di Comete.

Mancava poco a natale, quella sera mio figlio come tanti altri ragazzi uscì per una passeggiata, quando fu improvvisamente raggiunto e brutalmente aggredito e accoltellato da una baby gang  nel centro storico di Napoli. Ricordo perfettamente la scena più brutta della mia vita: lo sguardo di mio figlio,gravemente  ferito, che fissava inerme il vuoto.”

Una scena , certo, raccapricciante, ma la reazione successiva all’accaduto ha provato la vera forza di questa donna, che oggi cerca di infondere coraggio a molte persone grazie proprio a questo racconto. Ho cercato anche di parlare con la madre di uno dei ragazzi, spiegandole che aiutando suo figlio avremmo potuto aiutare anche il mio, ma lei negò fino all’ultimo che il figlio avesse preso parte all’aggressione.”

Fu da questa vicenda che nacque l’associazione “Artur”, da quando la donna comprese che in alcuni casi l’aiuto non può arrivare dall’interno, ma è necessario un intervento esterno, laddove la famiglie per limiti economici, e non solo, non possono intervenire.

“Dei quattro ragazzini che hanno aggredito Arturo, due sono rampolli di camorra. Nelle baby gang queste aggressioni immotivate sono viste come riti di iniziazione, per dimostrare di poter essere all’altezza di commettere delle atrocità. È chiaro che il destino di molti bambini sia segnato sin dalla tenera età, ed è a loro che voglio dare una chance di vivere un’altra vita rispetto a quella che gli è imposta dalle famiglie e dal contesto sociale in cui nascono.”

Racconta inoltre di aver assistito al processo e di non aver notato il minimo segno di pentimento da parte dei ragazzini, i quali si scaricavano la colpa l’un l’altro senza assumersi le proprie responsabilità, la cosiddetta “omertà” non una semplice parola, un credo per i membri della criminalità organizzata e per chi pur non essendone partecipe attivamente la vive, come gli abitanti del quartiere di origine degli aggressori, che pur, probabilmente, conoscendo la verità, non osano parlare, forse per timore o peggio ancora per una sorta di fedeltà o lealtà che son costretti a dimostrarsi fra di loro. Di fatto è stato proprio calarsi in questi contesti malsani che è valso l’attribuzione dell’ appellativo “mamma coraggio”, di cui la Iavarone parla così: “Molti insistono a chiamarmi con l’appellativo di mamma coraggio ma sono solo una donna molto sfortunata. Bisogna rendersi conto che ciò che conta sono i piccoli gesti. La pace è un insieme di raccordi e sinergie, non è mai un rapporto unidirezionale.”
