TOKYO 2020: L’ITALIA RITROVA L’ORO
Nonostante un inizio di settimana ricco di medaglie conquistate (5 d’argento e 7 di bronzo), il secondo oro della spedizione olimpica italiana ha faticato ad arrivare. Ciò ha comportato una discesa verticale nel medagliere per gli azzurri che sono stati scavalcati da nazioni con meno medaglie ma con più ori. Oggi, però, Valentina Rodini e Federica Cesarini hanno spezzato la maledizione trionfando nel doppio pesi leggeri femminile del canottaggio, in una regata a dir poco avvincente in lotta continua con tutte le imbarcazioni della finale conclusasi al fotofinish con la Francia. La Rodini (classe 1995 di Cremona) e la Cesarini (classe 1996 di Cittiglio, VA) gareggiano insieme dal 2016 e sono cresciute entrambe nelle Fiamme Gialle (gruppo sportivo della Guardia di Finanza). L’oro del duo lombardo è il primo nella storia del canottaggio azzurro femminile, di cui le acque del “Sea Forest Waterway” della baia di Tokyo sono state una meravigliosa cornice. Fantastica e commovente l’esultanza delle due compagne di squadra, nonché amiche, dopo la vittoria resa ancora più esaltante per la suspense del thrilling fotofinish. Con questo successo, momentaneamente l’Italia è 10ª nel medagliere capitanato dalla Cina, in attesa di un weekend ricco di finali e, si auspica, anche di altri trionfi.
